The World Formula 1 champion, Max Verstappen, qualified as a “strange” penalty of 10 seconds received by Oscar Piastri for sudden braking behind the safety machine, from Great Britain's Grand Prize.

Due to this penalty, Piastri finished in 2nd place, behind his colleague from McLaren, Lando Norris, who won with an 8 -point difference.

Oscar Piastri, about the controversial penalty because of which he lost the great prize of the United Kingdom: “I will have problems”

Max Verstappen, about Oscar Piastri's penalty: “I find it strange”

Only after the race did I find out that Oscar was penalized. No one told me about it during the race. It happened to me a few times, the same scenario. It seems strange to me because Oscar is the first to get 10 seconds for that“, Said Verstappen, according to Sportal.bg.

Verstappen recalled that in Canada, Red Bull requested George Russell's penalty for a similar maneuver behind the safety machine. But Russell was not penalized and won, while Verstappen finished the second in Montreal.

“It seems that for the race commissioners, the situation with Piastri is different from the one with Russell in Canada,” added Max.

Red Bull chief Christian Horner added that he was not surprised by Piastri's penalty, but was surprised that Russell escaped sanction in Canada.

I will not say too much, otherwise I will have problems. Congratulations to Nico, I think he is the star of the day. Obviously, now you are no longer allowed to reduce the speed behind the safety machine. I was doing the same for five tours before. I will not say anything, because I will have problems. I still like silverstone even though I didn't like it so much today
