The Tour of France 2025 marks a return to the roots, after an atypical 2024 edition. The 112nd edition of the Great Loop will start from the European metropolis Lille on July 5, offering three initial stages in the Hauts-de-France region.

The platoon will then start on a long journey to the south, with stages in Brittany and Auvergne. Favorites will be able to test in four important stages in the Pyrenees, including a countertim at Peyragudes. The race then goes to Provence and Alps, where the last week is decisive, with three prestigious peaks: Mont Ventoux, Col de La Loze and Plagne.
After three weeks of complete competition on French soil, cyclists will return to Champs-Élysées in Paris on July 27 for the traditional final.
The journalists from L 'Equipe made a top of the favorites motivating their choice.
Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) – five out of five stars
After his demonstration from the recent Critérium du Dauphiné and despite his evolution at the counter, the Slovenian convinced that nothing can make him doubt. He is about to set records, iIt would have the record of five victories held by Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indura seems clear. Of course, no one is sheltered by an accident, but the world champion seems untouched, even in front of fate.
Jonas Vingegaard (Visma Lease a Bike)- three out of five stars
The Danish hoped to get points against Pogacar in Dauphiné, but he left with as many questions (if not more) about how to catch Slovenian. QIn the last month, he managed to compensate what he lacks in training, but only marginal. All he can do now is to hope for a skid, even hypothetically, from the world champion, in order to make the most of the difference, grace and a very strong Visma team.
Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step)-two of five stars
The Olympic champion is brilliant by Lucid. He knows his potential and maneuver margin in front of the two monsters, Pogacar and Vingegaard, who won the last five tours. Cu his team Soudal-Quick Step, the Belgian will not have the same power as teams as UAE and Visma of Pogacar and Vingergaard. Therefore, he will have to be more creative and take advantage of his undeniable advantage in the counter.
Primoz Roglic (Redbull – Bora -Hansgrohe) – a five -star star
After the withdrawal from Giro, Slovenian returns in search of a (almost) impossible mission in the tour, which he has not finished since he finished in 2nd in 2020. The winning quadruple of Vuelta has a habit of falling repeatedly, but knows that he can still target a place, despite the age of 35. Although his dream of winning one day the tour disappeared five years ago on the plane of Des Belles Filles, when his Pogacar compatriot was deprived of the yellow shirt on the eve of Paris, he does not want to believe that this page has been returned forever.
They also mentioned Matteo Jorgenson (Visma Lease a Bike), Carlos Rodriguez (Ineos Grenadiers), Ben O'Connor (Jayco Alula) or Joao Almeida (UAE Team Emirates)
