Increasing tariffs for Ukrzaliznytsia's container transportation will throw us away from the European Union.
The developed logistics network of container transportation is what Ukraine is on the way to the European Union, because it is this type of transportation that will provide us with increased exports and increased trade.
Meanwhile, UZ wants to raise tariffs for container transportation – despite the fact that this step will throw our integration back, and its own income will fall on the roads, because the cargo will go to the roads, says the head of the Federation of Transport Employers of Ukraine, the first minister of transport of Ukraine Orest Klimpush.
The position of the UZ is clear: some cunning shippers began to use container transportation not for international shipments, as it should be, but simply as a “wholesale container” to transport their products to seaports. And this, of course, is not ok at all.
But raising tariffs is not a way out. It is much more logical – to increase tariffs if the transportation of containers takes place within Ukraine. And when sending containers in international rail transportation – to keep tariffs as they were.
This will allow the UZ to earn more. But at the same time, it will retain the speed of our integration into the EU.
