The states of the European Union reiterated on Thursday's summit the support for Ukraine and its European part, said President Nicuşor Dan in a press conference in Brussels after participating in the European Council.
“In a statement adopted by 26 states of 27, the support of the Union and the will of the Union was reiterated for the continuation of the European path of Ukraine. It has been adopted, unanimously, this time, the continuation of sanctions, which, as you know, are renewed every six months, as a form of pressure on Russia. At the same time, the EU has been continued.
He stressed that he discussed, at the proposal of the Romanian, and about the Republic of Moldova.
“The reforms that the Republic of Moldova made in the European course, the support of the European Commission for the opening of the cluster on the fundamental aspects and the summit that will take place on July 4, were mentioned.” Nicuşor Dan said.
President Nicușor Dan was asked in the conference – given that the candidate countries Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova are treated by the EU, and Hungary block Ukraine's accession – as the idea that the Romanian diplomacy seems to make a separation of the two files.
What is important in this matter – said the head of state – is “the EU will to continue the European path of Moldova. The program of 2 billion euros was unlocked, these are tangible issues. It is a diplomatic issue.”
