In 1938, he moved to Birobidzhan and began to work at the backbone factory. He went from master to the head of the mechanical workshop, deputy director for sales. During the Great Patriotic War, he continued to work at the Dalselmash factory. At the plant, the first front -line Komsomol brigade named after Oleg Koshevoy was created, it was headed by Ivan Kirilov. Kirilova’s front brigade daily performed two or more norms.

In 1953, Ivan Ivanovich was sent to work in the collective farm “New Life” in the village. Puzino of the Oktyabrsky district, where he worked for ten years as the director of the collective farm. He was a member of the exhibition of the achievements of the national economy (6+) in Moscow, where he demonstrated the products of his collective farm and was awarded a bronze medal. In 1990, he was awarded the right to represent the Jewish Autonomous Region at the Victory Parade in Moscow. The former Dalselmashevz also took part in the solemn meeting (6+) of the military personnel of the Moscow garrison, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the hardships of the rear and the partisan movement.
In 1997, he went on a well -deserved rest, but continued to work with youth, take an active part in the life of the city.
In the same year, Ivan Ivanovich Kirilov was awarded the title “Honorary Citizen of the city of Birobidzhan.”

He passed away on May 19, 2006, was buried in Birobidzhan.
