Tanzania decided to introduce compulsory insurance for foreign guests, including tourists, in the amount of $ 44, even if they previously bought a private policy.

Presenting on Thursday these government plans to Tanzan parliamentarians, the Minister of Finance Mwigulu Ncheba said that insurance would be valid for 92 days and will include, among others, the costs of treatment, return transport to the country, but also those related to the loss, theft or damage of luggage.
Most likely, you will have to buy them at the National Insurance Company of Tanzania.

Only citizens of the Eastern African community (EAC) and the community of development of South Africa (SADC) will be exempt from this obligation.
Tourists visiting Tanzania must also have a tourist visa, which costs $ 50.
From October last year, compulsory insurance for tourists is in force at Zanzibar, where adults have to pay $ 44, and children up to 17 years old $ 22. Also in Zanzibar, insurance can only be bought through the state -owned company Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC).
Tanzania was visited by over 5.3 million tourists until April, although the authorities assumed that the result of 5 million could be achieved at the earliest in July. (PAP)
