“Either everyone, or no one!”

Even though in recent years he has ended the season every time on profit, the Constanța Lighthouse has an average budget for superlig, far from those of the top teams.
Even in the next edition, things will not be otherwise, and the president of the Constanta club, Gică Popescu, revealed how the amount will be established on the white-blue team.

Gică Popescu wants a unitary law on public money invested in clubs
“In us, there are not only the costs of the first team. We also have the Academy, we have rates for banks, because everything that has been built here has been done with the help of banks. When we pay the banks and provide the budget to the academy, we see what is the budget we can afford on the first team. And Gică, the one leading the technical side, enters this budget with the lot. If it had been overcome with a lion, we could not have paid.
I had hours of discussions with Gică and he understood, because he is the owner of the club. I told the truth and together they made this decision. Gică made some issues, an extremely big financial effort last season with bringing Denis Alibec, but I had the support of a sponsor to pay, “explained the former captain of the Romanian national.
Average salary ceiling
In addition, the Constans will no longer exceed the wage ceiling, as happened in the case of Denis Alibec. The monthly contractual limit for players at Lighthouse will be around 5,000 eurosto which substantial bonuses are brought according to performance.
“One thing is very important for the players: to pay them in time. Most prefer to take 7 lei instead of 10 lei, but take them on time, because they have rates and rents. We did this every year, I paid them in time and it is something that the players appreciate. But we stretched out how much we left our quilt and I think it is a professionalism proof to do this. Look at what is happening at important clubs, which are insolvent or have financial problems.
We are on profit year by year. I had a salary ceiling every season that I maintained. We will not decrease it, because it was a middle-class one for the first league. If we have to make adjustments, we will not make them as quantity. We will reduce the number of players or employees, but this danger is not yet, ”said Gică Popescu.

Gică Popescu: “It is an unfair competition”
Advisor on sports issues of Romania's forefronts in recent years, the president of the seaside group has once again raised the problem of the law of sponsorship, which he set out to modify. At the same time, he hopes that in the case of supporting public money, a unitary rule will be reached, so that the clubs will benefit from the same rights, regardless of the legal organization.
“Since this club was set up, every year it is a budget deficit that we have to cover from transfer of players. No matter how many sponsors we bring, and we have brought many in recent years, we have a deficit because the wages have increased. There are players who, in order to bring, ask for certain conditions. Unfortunately, we cannot pay the average level from the first level. We have no public money, and the possibility of bringing even more sponsors does not exist, because it is this impediment of companies, which cannot finance SAs, because they cannot deduce their expenses.
We try to solve this, not to be this unfair competition between the teams that are SAs, like us, and NGOs. The big companies want to sponsor the NGOs, because they deduce their expenses. We try to do so that all clubs have the same rights. We hope that the local administration may be and the companies will also lead to the interest of the collaboration with us. It is unfounded for certain clubs to use public money and no other. Either everyone, or no one, ”said Gică Popescu.
It is not easy. When you offer a good player, which we see FCSB, Craiova, CFR, Rapid and Dinamo, they give more. Then there is the problem of the player, where he wants to go and how much the financial part matters to him. We need to find players with much lower salaries and who can be beaten with those that everyone considers better, because they are paid better. Not always the fact that you pay more, it means you will be able to have results.
