The President of Romania declares himself dissatisfied with the anti -corruption struggle, stating that “they are very big arrears” and that as soon as they conclude the discussions on the budgetary measures the justice will be its main concern. He spoke, in his first press conference in the mandate of the leader, and about the involvement of the services of information to combat the tax evasion.
Asked if he was satisfied with the state's anti -corruption fight, Nicușor Dan said that “there are whole areas of corruption that are ignored.”
“I am not at all satisfied with the anti -corruption fight, there are entire areas of corruption that are ignored. After ending with the deficit, the part of justice will be my main concern. As for the services, yes. It takes a civil director at SRI, it is very likely to need a new SIE director,” said Nicușor Dan.

About the involvement of secret services in the issue of evasion in the CSAT, the head of state said that “tax evasion is national security”, so that secret services must be involved in these situations.
“The tax evasion is already in the national security strategy. There is no need for a change. What we need to make is to be very clear until the information service acts. The services, because the tax evasion is national security in the official document of the state, must find the information about this problem and everything is to have their role. Asked how it will be ensured that the tax controls will not go to companies or companies that are not part of the network of influence of certain interest groups around the services, the president replied that “the information services do not make controls, they collect information”.
“The intelligence services do not make controls. They collect information. The controls are done by the ANAF representatives and, to the extent that there are suspicions, they can be done by the prosecutors. I want to be clear the delimitation between the activity of the services and other bodies. The services collect information that are relevant to the national security. What is the discussion? Terrorist actions and I wish that in the information activity the tax evasion area will be a priority.
