The head of the IAEA arrived in Kyiv and spoke about the advantages of the nuclear energy of Ukraine

“My 12th visit to Ukraine has begun since February 2022, with confirmation of the country's support from the Magate,” he wrote.

The head of the Magate spoke about his meetings with the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrei Sibigiga.

During a meeting with Galushchenko, it was about the resumption of the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, in particular about the new blocks at the Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant and repair at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

At a meeting with Sibigi, according to Grossy, it was about support for atomic safety in Ukraine, including the constant presence of the IAE at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant occupied by the Russians, which “remains necessary.”

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine spoke about the meetings of Galushchenko and Grossi in more detail.

“Nuclear energy has become a real support for Ukraine in these difficult times. It provided stable and reliable power supply during a huge crisis – and this is very important. […] It is quite obvious that the further rate on nuclear energy is not only technologically, but also economically the most reasonable path. Few countries have such an opportunity – therefore, Ukraine should use it in full, ”said Grossy.

The head of the Magate called Ukraine one of the countries having one of the highest qualifications in the world and experience in nuclear technologies.

“This means that Ukraine already has a huge competitive and technological advantage,” he said.

Galushchenko agreed that Ukraine has a powerful personnel potential for the development of atomic energy and the unique experience of the operation of nuclear units in the conditions of hostilities.

Context

At the ZAES is the Magate Mission. IN September 2023 and in September 2024 The Magate General Conference adopted a resolution in which it called on Russia to the “immediate conclusion” of its personnel from the territory of ZAES.

In May 2025, the State Nuclear Regulation Inspectorate reported that Ukrainian specialists could not fully investigate incidents at the station for lack of technical information about the state of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. The only source of information about operational events at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant is only the reports of the IAE mission, but they do not contain enough information for investigations.
