Putin demands a guarantee from NATO regarding Ukraine. The alliance ignores him

According to radio interlocutors, this issue was not in the agenda of any of the last ones, nor previous official meetings of the Alliance representatives. “Perhaps this is only an academic discussion,” one source said, adding that every NATO decision must be made on a consensus basis. – A written guarantee of failure to east is not something that Moscow “can simply get it”because the decision to join any alliance is the sovereign law of states, registered in international treaties – emphasized another interlocutor.
Last Wednesday, the Reuters agency, citing Russian interlocutors familiar with the content of the negotiations in the matter of Ukraine, announced that Putin demands from Western countries a “written” commitment to not discharge NATO to the east, thus excluding the membership of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova in alliance.
Later, a special representative of the US President Keith Kellogg stated that Washington considered “justified” Russia's fears regarding the potential incorporation of new countries in NATO. He noted that the US authorities are ready to discuss this issue with Moscow.
Ukraine confirmed the course to the full membership of the country in the EU and NATO as early as 2019, introducing appropriate changes to the constitution.
