The Eurovision 2025 competition starts on Tuesday with the first semifinal. The bookmakers give favorites the representatives of Sweden. TVR will not broadcast this year's edition, but fans can watch the competition online.

Where is the Eurovision 2025 transmitted

In 2025, the 69th edition of the Eurovision music competition takes place. The final of Eurovision 2025 will take place in St. Jakobshalle, Basel, Saturday, May 17, and the semifinals take place on Tuesday and Thursday, on May 13 and 15, according to Agerpres.

Of the 37 participants, 31 will compete in the semifinals, Tuesday and Thursday, the first 10 of each group qualifying for the big Saturday, May 17, based on the public votes.

The other five participants from France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom are precalized for the final, along with the organizer – SG SSR in Switzerland – who was drawn to compete on the 19th place in the order of development.

Romania and the Republic of Moldova will not participate in this year's edition. Theodor Andrei represented Romania at Eurovision 2023 with the song 'DGT (Off and On)', missing qualification in the final.

The best ranking of our country was in the 2005 edition, when Luminița Anghel and System ended the show held in Kiev on the third place with the song “Let me try”.

Eurovision 2025. At what time the first semi -final begins

The first semi -final of the Eurovision competition on Tuesday evening will be a decisive test for Sweden and the sauna lovers of the band Kaj. The bookmakers give them favorites, but those who will vote have the last word, according to AFP, quoted by News.ro.

The Finnish singers from the Swedish speaking minority are far in front of the bets, with 41% chance of victory, and their advance has consolidated in the last days.

Artists representing 15 countries will enter the race on Tuesday, from 10:00 pm, Romania time. Only 10 will go to the final of the contest on May 17.

Kaj, from Kevin Holmstrom, Axel Ahman and Jakob Norgard, hopes that their song “Bara Bada Bastu” (“Make a sauna”) will arouse the laughter of the public. “We are pleased that this sauna team is appreciated. We have seen a lot of people learning the dance,” says Kevin Holmstrom.

The JJ Austrian ranks second in prognosis with his “Wasted Love”. He has a 19% chance of winning, according to Eurovision quotas.

Eurovision 2025. Who rely on bookmakers

The song is in the “The Code” line of Nemo, who won the contest last year, alternating between lyrical voice and modern rhythms.

Along with the five main sponsors of Eurovision (United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Spain), Switzerland, the host country, automatically advances in the final. Therefore, 26 teams will participate on Saturday night.

Of “Big 5”, the French Louane is best placed with his song “Maman”. It is in third place, with 6% chance of winning, according to the bookmakers.

The bookmakers place Sweden, Estonia, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Albania and Cyprus among the favorites in the first round of the competition.

Eurovision 2025. Tensions due to Israel's participation

The Icelandic band Vaeb – Brothers Matthias and Halfdan Matthiasson – hopes to qualify in the final with their song “Roa”.

Tuesday's competitors include Polish Justyna Steczkowska, 52, who participated in Eurovision 1995, and Estonian Tommy Cash, with the song “Espresso Macchiato”.

Eurovision week started on Sunday with an opening parade marked by demonstrations against Israel's participation.

The organizers estimated that 100,000 people gathered along the 1.3-kilometer route of the “turquoise carpet” to follow the competitors parading through the historical center of Basel on board trams.

The public television in Israel filed a police complaint in connection with a protester who seemed to make a throat cutting gesture to the tram in which the Israeli competitor Yuval Raphael, rated with the fourth chance to win the competition.
