FBI Accuses North Korea of Stealing Over $6.3 Billion from Binance

The attack on Binance occurred on October 29, resulting in what analysts have deemed the largest breach in the exchange’s history. According to Binance, approximately $6.3 billion was withdrawn as a result of the incident. By October 30, the company reported that it had recovered around 90% of the stolen assets.
The FBI has indicated that law enforcement observed members of the group converting the stolen assets into Ethereum cryptocurrency. The bureau expressed concerns that these assets may be further laundered using associated technologies.
Additionally, the FBI released the wallet addresses that stored or currently hold the assets acquired from the theft, urging for transactions involving these addresses to be blocked.
Initial assessments by the company suggest that the attackers gained access to an engineer’s laptop, allowing them to perform unauthorized transactions.
