Inter Milan Eyes Federico Chiesa as Liverpool Forward Faces Tough Season

Inter Milan is looking to capitalize on Federico Chiesa’s limited playing time at Liverpool. The 28-year-old right winger has only appeared for two minutes this season, largely due to the summer arrival of Victor Munoz and the significant progress of Rio Ngumoha, which has further diminished his standing in manager Andoni Iraola’s squad.
Following the acquisitions of Manuel Akanji and John Stones from Manchester City, Djed Spence from Tottenham, and Curtis Jones during the last transfer window, Inter is keen to add another Premier League player, possibly a former teammate of the Liverpool midfielder.
With Luis Henrique injured and Andy Diouf being overused, especially since Spence is still adapting after limited game time, coach Cristi Chivu is in need of an additional attacking player.
According to Transfermarkt.com, Federico Chiesa’s current market value is €10 million.
Chivu aims to leverage Chiesa’s situation at Liverpool, with prospects of a January transfer not ruled out, as reported by calciomercato.com. Inter and Roma have previously shown interest, along with Lazio, AC Milan, and Atalanta.
Chiesa’s Dilemma: Remain in England or Reboot Career in Serie A?
Under contract until June 30, 2028, Chiesa will soon have to decide whether to stay in England or attempt to revive his career by returning to Serie A. Reports suggest Liverpool is unlikely to oppose his potential departure.
The international player with 51 caps and seven goals for Italy, a European champion in 2020, transferred from Juventus to Liverpool for €12 million in August 2024. However, manager Arne Slot has not favored him much, accumulating 1,192 minutes over 50 matches with five goals and five assists.
Chiesa’s last start for Liverpool was on December 27, 2025, when he played 61 minutes against Wolverhampton at Anfield.
Victor Munoz’s transfer from Osasuna for €40 million has further limited Chiesa’s opportunities, making a return to Serie A a viable solution for both parties.
