Harry Kane Approaches Cristiano Ronaldo’s Champions League Record

Harry Kane, 33, the striker for Bayern Munich, has marked his tenth consecutive goal in the Champions League, putting him just one goal shy of Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of 11 goals, achieved in 2017 and 2018.
Despite Kane’s accomplishment, Bayern could only secure a 2-2 draw against Arsenal, a result that the players deemed fair. Kane noted, “We were dangerous, scored, and had moments where we could have closed the match. A draw is probably the most accurate result. We have many matches ahead, injuries, and some players were absent today, so we take this point and move on.”
Kane expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating, “I think we had a good match. We took the initiative; the opponent looked drained of energy. However, in the last 15 minutes, we dropped too deep in defense, and they capitalized on that.” He will have the chance to equal Ronaldo’s record on November 3rd at the final Champions League venue against Atletico Madrid.
“I had a fantastic last season and am extremely proud of my achievements. It would be extraordinary to win the Ballon d’Or, but now it no longer depends on me. I will wait for the gala and see what happens.” – Harry Kane
Mikel Arteta Acknowledges Bayern’s Dominance
The Premier League champions understood the strength of their opponents at the Allianz Arena. Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, remarked, “Bayern tramples any opponent. We needed to play one of our best matches considering the value of our rivals.” Arteta had to substitute Bukayo Saka just ten minutes into the game due to injury concerns.
Concern for Bukayo Saka’s Injury
Saka, the leading scorer for Arsenal this season, collapsed on the field holding his thigh, prompting concern from Arteta. “We have some worries regarding Saka. When a player leaves the pitch due to sharp pain, it is never a good sign. The situation does not look good, but we must wait for investigations,” Arteta explained.
Substituting Saka, Eberechi Eze was introduced and opened the scoring within 15 minutes. Bayern managed to equalize through goals from Davies and Kane, but Declan Rice netted the final equalizer in the 82nd minute. “I am extremely happy. At the end, I sprinted, got free from the defender’s marking, and found myself alone in front of goal, managing to score,” Rice commented on his goal that sealed the 2-2 draw.
Vincent Kompany Regrets Late Equalizer
Bayern’s coach, Vincent Kompany, expressed disappointment over conceding a late goal. “We faced a formidable opponent. We had our good moments and created several huge chances, but in the last 15 minutes, we suffered. However, we believed in victory and sought it, so it is a great shame to concede that goal late,” he acknowledged.
The match did not bring any more memorable moments, and the points were shared. Both Kai Havertz and Arteta believed the draw was just. “I think it was a high-level duel from both teams. We can be proud of our performance, as it is not easy to keep up with the hosts,” Havertz explained.
“We accept this draw, even if we prepared the team to win. We wanted to be dominant from the start and pose problems for Bayern.” – Mikel Arteta
