Mihai Pintilii Addresses FCSB Return Speculation: ‘Not on the Agenda’

Mihai Pintilii, aged 41, who previously served as an assistant coach at FCSB during Elias Charalambous’s tenure, has currently dismissed the possibility of returning to the club where he also played. He mentioned that he is in discussions regarding a potential coaching position elsewhere.
Pintilii departed FCSB alongside Charalambous, who resigned after failing to secure a playoff spot at the end of the last regular season. He joined Levadiakos in the summer but resigned after just two months, citing personal reasons. The Cypriot coach’s position is now under threat as his team has failed to score in their first seven matches in Greece.
Pintilii Clarifies Position on FCSB Return
“There are some discussions, but nothing concrete at this moment. I’m at the stage of talks only,” Pintilii stated, according to reports, dismissing any immediate return to FCSB: “I have a very good relationship with everyone at the club, not just with Mister Reghecampf. However, for now, a return is not on the agenda.”
The former Romanian international also previewed the upcoming match between Voluntari and FCSB, highlighting the importance of the game as the 12th round of Superliga concludes.
“It’s a tough match, but FCSB is clearly the favorite. They need to win to stay close to their objective, which is to qualify for the playoffs. These are three crucial points against a team that has historically challenged them. It’s a difficult game, and while there are some absences, those who step in must perform at the same level. I don’t believe there will be issues forming the starting eleven. The squad is large and well-balanced in terms of numbers and quality.”
“It’s too early to say. There are two different coaches (Reghecampf and Baciu) with different philosophies, and we cannot make comparisons after just one match. We need to wait a little longer before we can talk about it.” – Mihai Pintilii
Pintilii has served as an assistant coach at FCSB from February 2020 to March 2026, working alongside various coaches including Elias Charalambous, Toni Petrea, Nicolae Dică, Bogdan Argeș Vintilă, Leo Strizu, Edi Iordănescu, and Dinu Todoran.
In his international career, Pintilii earned 45 caps, scoring one goal and providing two assists for Romania, participating in EURO 2016.
As a player, he represented FCSB during two stints, from July 2012 to July 2014 and from January 2016 to January 2020. Throughout his career, Pintilii also played for Curtea de Argeș, Jiul Petroșani, Pandurii Tg. Jiu, Hapoel Tel Aviv, and Al-Hilal.
