Roman Citizen Deported from UK After Conviction for Attacks on Former PM’s Properties

A Romanian national sentenced in June to two years in prison for the intentional arson of properties associated with former Prime Minister Keir Starmer has been deported from the United Kingdom, as confirmed by the Home Office in London.

Stanislav Carpiuc, born in Ukraine, along with Roman Lavrynovych, a Ukrainian citizen, was found guilty for their roles in attacks targeting properties linked to Starmer during his tenure as leader of the Labour Party in May 2025.

The two individuals received prison sentences of two years and seven years, respectively.

Several British media outlets have connected these arsons to Russia, although the presiding judge did not reference this in the June ruling.

“This individual has been deported from the United Kingdom,” a Home Office spokesperson stated Saturday, referring to Carpiuc. The specific country of his deportation was not disclosed.

“This was a heinous attack. The sentencing and incarceration of these men should send a clear message to anyone who might be blinded by promises of money from unknown individuals,” the spokesperson added in a statement to AFP.

The court determined that Roman Lavrynovych and Stanislav Carpiuc acted under the orders of a Russian-speaking individual contacted via Telegram, who identified himself as “EL” and was saved in the defendants’ phones under the name “El Money.”

It was also established that Carpiuc was not directly involved in the arson but was tasked with attempting to recover the funds offered for these crimes.

According to a BBC investigation, “EL” is believed to be a young Russian diplomat, Evgeny Lyukshin, who is connected to high-ranking officials in Moscow and is the son of a senior official.

He reportedly posted messages in Telegram groups targeting Russian and Ukrainian speakers seeking jobs in London, as noted by the Financial Times.
