Ivan Leko Praises Inter After Club Brugge’s 4-3 Victory in Champions League

After a thrilling 4-3 victory at Inter Milan in the Champions League, Ivan Leko, the coach of Club Brugge, shared his thoughts on the match. He acknowledged the individual superiority of the Nerazzurri and praised the coaching of Cristi Chivu.
Leko remarked, “We were fortunate, but we also created our luck. It was a balanced match with equal chances; we were not necessarily better. It was a beautiful game. Inter is a top team and dominates Serie A. Just looking at their bench reveals the quality of their squad.
He added, “This victory is vital for Belgian football. It’s not easy to dominate against Inter. They performed well and were more aggressive than in Serie A. We showed bravery. I adore this Inter team. I’ve been following them for five to six years, from Conte to Inzaghi and now Chivu. Winning here is very special. This match boosts our confidence, but we are still not at the level of last year. We need more time to progress. I am happy to see the desire to win and play football,” stated Leko, who has been at the helm of Club Brugge since December 2025.
Nicolo Tresoldi scored a hat-trick for Club Brugge, while Vermant added a fourth goal. For Inter, Lautaro Martinez netted two goals, and Bony contributed another.
This defeat marks Inter’s second loss in as many Champions League matches, having previously fallen 1-2 to Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.
Upcoming fixtures for Cristi Chivu’s side include matches against Shakhtar (home), Feyenoord (away), Stuttgart (home), Dortmund (away), Liverpool (away), and Slovan Bratislava (home).
