Elon Musk Invests $366 Million in Midterm Elections to Support Republicans

Elon Musk, the world’s richest person, has invested around $366 million in the current midterm elections, with $276 million allocated just since July. His financial support aims to help the Republican Party maintain control of Congress, even as Democrats’ chances of reclaiming the House of Representatives and the Senate have increased.

According to reports, Musk’s substantial contributions make him one of the largest political donors in this election cycle, as documented by campaign finance records. This investment is critical for Musk, especially with Democratic representatives calling for investigations into his government contracts as CEO of SpaceX and his role in the Efficiency Government Department during Donald Trump’s presidency.

A breakdown of Musk’s political contributions, confirmed by a spokesperson for his super PAC, America PAC, reveals that since the start of this election cycle on January 1, 2025, Musk has donated at least $276 million to Republican groups and his own super PAC since July. Of this amount, $158 million has gone to the Senate Leadership Fund, a super PAC supporting Republican candidates for the Senate, aligned with Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota. Additionally, $20 million was directed to the Congressional Leadership Fund, which supports Republican candidates for the House of Representatives and is aligned with House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana.

Other notable contributions include $76 million to America PAC, $10 million to Lone Star Liberty PAC, supporting Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton’s Senate campaign in Texas, and $10 million to the Republican Governors Association, as well as $2 million to the Republican Attorneys General Association.

America PAC is actively supporting Republican candidates across seven pivotal states and in over 30 congressional races. The latest donations will be publicly disclosed on Thursday when many super PACs are required to reveal their third-quarter expenditures.

Additionally, Musk has made contributions through undisclosed donor groups, as reported by The New York Times and confirmed by a spokesperson for America PAC. Previously, Musk spent approximately $290 million in the last election cycle.
