Igor Terekhov Criticizes Housing Requirements for Displaced Citizens

Igor Terekhov has expressed strong criticism regarding the requirement for assessment documents from individuals who have lost their homes in occupied territories, labeling it as absurd. He emphasized that the government must create a straightforward and understandable mechanism for obtaining housing, actively support every citizen, and establish conditions that encourage people to stay and return home.

Terekhov questioned the feasibility of conducting assessments in areas where active combat is ongoing, such as Gorlivka or Makiivka. He stated, “How can someone assess whether a person’s home is destroyed or not in these temporarily occupied territories?” Terekhov believes that individuals who consciously choose to live in Ukraine deserve support and housing from the state, rather than being asked for assessment documents.

He highlighted the distress many face, as they wander through bureaucratic processes in search of housing without clear government decisions. “People may end up deciding to leave Ukraine, creating a significant issue regarding their return,” he warned. Terekhov asserted the necessity of fighting for each Ukrainian citizen, ensuring they do not leave and encouraging their return, describing this as a critically important matter requiring attention and a clear action plan.
