Joachim Löw’s Iconic Sweater from 2010 World Cup Available Again

German national team supporters have a unique opportunity to acquire a collectible item at an accessible price. The cashmere sweater worn by former head coach Joachim Löw during the 2010 World Cup is back on the market.

Sixteen years have passed since Joachim “Jogi” Löw captured attention at the World Cup in South Africa, not only for leading a young German team but also for his striking appearance. With tight pants, fitted shirts, and the now-iconic blue cashmere sweater, Löw became almost as famous as the team he coached.

Löw himself smiles when recalling those moments. “I think it would probably be a bit tight for me now,” he joked, but the lucky blue sweater still fits him. Fans can once again purchase the famed garment.

The sweater, originally made by Strenesse, was re-released on October 5. The brand has revived the cashmere piece that Löw made famous during the tournament.

It is priced at €49.99 at Lidl, currently available online only, but it will hit store shelves starting October 12. Löw has already tried on the old sweater and told BILD, “It fits really well. I believe it has a price that people can afford.”

When asked by a German tabloid reporter if he misses that time, Löw replied, “Not necessarily. But it was the beginning of a new era. In 2010, we were just the people’s champions. However, it became clear that the team was capable of much more. Just four years later, we became world champions in Brazil.”

For the Strenesse campaign, the former coach was accompanied by a captivating partner: Selina Söder, a successful dressage rider and daughter of Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder. “She’s open, friendly, and of course, very attractive,” Löw remarked.
