Potential Trilateral Meeting with Ukraine, US, and Russia Announced by Vitkoff

Potential Trilateral Meeting with Ukraine, US, and Russia

Vitkoff has indicated that a trilateral meeting involving representatives from Kyiv, Washington, and Moscow may be announced shortly.

Recently, Vitkoff and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former President Trump, visited Moscow where they reportedly heard “new ideas that had not previously worked.” Following this, US representatives traveled to Kyiv to discuss these ideas with Ukrainian officials.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the necessity of ensuring that trilateral meetings take place.

According to Axios, both Vitkoff and Kushner are hopeful for progress in the peace process before winter arrives. However, Zelensky remarked that it currently appears the conflict may continue into the winter months.

  • At the beginning of 2026, negotiations between Ukraine and Russia facilitated by the US took place in Abu Dhabi and Geneva.
  • Bloomberg reported that Moscow considered halting negotiations if Kyiv did not agree to cede part of the uncontrolled territory in the Donetsk region. Zelensky stated that Kyiv has already made several compromises, but will not end the war on Russia’s terms.
  • The next round of negotiations was scheduled for March 11 in Istanbul, but was postponed amid escalating tensions surrounding Iran.
