Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Krawchenko, has firmly denied any involvement in covering up illegal call centers, stating, “I have no connection to their concealment and did not issue instructions to facilitate such activities.” He emphasized that decisions have been made regarding an employee of the Office of the Prosecutor General (OPG) involved in the investigation, resulting in their suspension from official duties. Krawchenko has also instructed preparations for a dismissal in accordance with legal procedures.
Krawchenko asserted, “The court will determine guilt. I am responsible for management decisions in the system I lead. We will not limit ourselves to a single personnel decision.” He has ordered an investigation into the operations of the International Cooperation Department, where the implicated employee worked, as well as the Cybercrime Prevention Unit.
Additionally, he called for all staff involved in procedural leadership and investigations concerning illegal call centers to undergo polygraph testing. Krawchenko stated, “If other employees facilitated the call centers, interfered with investigations, or covered up illegal activities, their actions will also be legally assessed. No position will offer protection.”
Over the past year, more than 1,050 searches have been conducted, leading to the closure of around 340 call centers and the shutdown of over 5,000 operator positions. During investigative actions, full access was granted to his office and all necessary areas were examined without obstruction. Krawchenko noted, “I have nothing to hide.”
He also addressed rumors about a safe depicted in media and social networks, clarifying that it does not belong to the Office of the Prosecutor General and is unrelated to his office or other OPG employees. “Claims to the contrary are false,” he stated. Furthermore, Krawchenko dismissed reports of his supposed “disappearance,” adding, “I understand that many would like me to have ‘hidden away’ or been hospitalized. I will disappoint my ‘supporters’: I was at my workplace yesterday and am working today, also engaging in a bit of sports.”
