Ukraine’s Population Decline: Current Figures Show 29 Million Residents

According to a statement from Oksana Aksyonova, a researcher at the Institute of Demography of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the current population of Ukraine stands at only 29 million people, a situation deemed catastrophic. Aksyonova noted that the current birth rate is lower than it was even in the late 1990s and early 2000s, when the average woman had one child. Presently, the number of births has decreased by half compared to that period, and the trend is expected to continue with fewer newborns in the future.
