Gaziantep has made the decision to part ways with coach Mirel Rădoi, aged 45, and is reportedly considering Cagdas Atan, 46, as his successor. Atan previously managed Konyaspor.
Memik Yilmaz, president of Gaziantep, has traveled to Istanbul to meet with Atan. If an agreement is reached, Atan will take over the team, as suggested by reports from Turkey.
Gaziantep Parts Ways with Mirel Rădoi
Rădoi has had a challenging start to the season in Turkey, with Gaziantep currently sitting in ninth place with just four points after three matches. Their latest match resulted in a 1-2 loss against Rizespor.
A key factor contributing to Rădoi’s departure appears to be the exclusion of Halil Dervișoglu from the squad. The 24-year-old national team player, who recently joined on loan from Galatasaray, reportedly clashed with Rădoi and struggled to find his place in the Romanian coach’s tactical setup. Gaziantep is preparing to mutually terminate the loan, reflecting the player’s desire to leave.
The situation surrounding Dervișoglu, combined with the team’s poor start, has made Rădoi’s exit seem inevitable.
Since arriving at Gaziantep in April after a brief stint at FCSB, Rădoi has overseen seven matches, achieving one win, one draw, and suffering five losses. His contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
Cagdas Atan as Rădoi’s Successor
Cagdas Atan is expected to step in as Rădoi’s replacement. He has not managed a team since February 2026, with his last position being at Konyaspor.
As a player, Atan featured in 11 matches for Gaziantep. His most extended tenure as a coach was from 2023 to 2025, where he managed Başakşehir for 98 games.
