Uli Hoeness Faces Lawsuit Over Trees Planted Near His Home

Uli Hoeness, the honorary president of Bayern Munich, and his wife Susi are facing legal action from their neighbors regarding two young linden trees planted in May 2026 at their home in Bad Wiessee, located by Lake Tegernsee.

The neighbors claim that the linden trees should never have been planted, citing an easement recorded in 1975. However, Peter Gauweiler, the Hoeness family’s lawyer, disputes this assertion.

Neighbors Complain About Obstructed View

Moreover, the neighbors are demanding the removal of the two trees, arguing that they obstruct the view of the beautiful Gut Kaltenbrunn estate, situated to the north of Lake Tegernsee. Hoeness, however, argues:

“Your claims are completely incorrect. Your family hasn’t been able to see Gut Kaltenbrunn for 50 years. There are 5,000 trees there. The truth is I bought this property 20 years ago and even asked your in-laws if they had any issue with planting trees there.”

Hoeness describes the plaintiffs’ in-laws as “wonderful people,” who passed away three years ago, leaving the property to the current owner and her husband. He accused the neighbor of taking too long to realize the situation regarding the trees: “It took you 20 years to finally realize this about the trees. We will not transplant any.”

Hoeness Suggests Underlying Issues

The judge suggested a compromise that would involve removing one young linden tree while allowing two older maples to remain. The third maple is expected to be cut down soon due to significant damage caused by heavy snowfall last winter. However, the neighbors rejected this proposal and are pursuing separate procedures to have all five trees removed.

Hoeness perceives the lawsuit as “pure harassment” and suspects it stems from a previous incident: “About three years ago, they wanted to buy land from us for raising cattle. After consulting with our children, we refused,” he told the tabloid Bild. A decision from the Munich court is expected on September 24.
