The Kyiv Metro has initiated a pilot project to improve passenger organization during emergency alerts. This new system divides platform space into four recommended zones: for individuals with children, for people with reduced mobility, for those with pets, and for seating.
The local authorities believe that this zoning will facilitate a more orderly experience for citizens, enabling staff to assist those in need more effectively. However, it is important to note that these guidelines are purely advisory; station workers will not compel passengers to move from their spots. The success of this initiative largely depends on the awareness and cooperation of the public.
While currently in a trial phase, the Kyiv Metro is also exploring the possibility of implementing this zoning concept at additional stations. Further updates regarding the experiment’s outcomes will be provided in due course.
Moreover, the metro management urges residents and visitors not to carry bulky items, such as tents and inflatable mattresses, into shelters. With an increasing number of people at stations, maintaining free space is crucial for overall safety and comfort.
