President Donald Trump has indicated on Sunday that he prefers to utilize economic pressures to compel Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, rather than resorting to military intervention, as reported by Axios.
“We are taking a more discreet approach,” Trump stated.
These remarks follow Iran’s announcement that it will not reopen the vital waterway unless the United States meets specific demands, which include a halt to insults and threats directed at the country.
“We are negotiating only partially with them,” Trump added. “We are simply monitoring Iran, which is grappling with significant inflation and financial difficulties.”
Trump noted that Iran is in a “very bad situation,” stating that Americans are feeling less of the financial strain from the conflict due to falling oil prices.
“It will resolve itself. It always does. It’s like a game of chess,” Trump concluded.
