According to the State Emergency Service (SES), a fire broke out in a two-story residential building in Pukhovytsia, Brovary district, following a Russian military strike. The blaze destroyed the house, two gazebos, and two cars.
“Unfortunately, three individuals have died, including a child born in 2022. Additionally, three others were injured,” the report stated.
A separate fire occurred at an industrial site in Pukhovytsia, where a warehouse building caught fire due to the same Russian attack.
Around 12:40 AM, the Ukrainian Air Force alerted about the movement of Russian drones towards Brovary. Following this, the regional military administration informed about the activation of air defense systems.
Later in the night, Russian forces launched ballistic missiles towards Kyiv. Air raid sirens were activated, followed by a series of explosions around 3:00 AM.
As of 5:45 AM, four injuries were reported, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMO).
The SES indicated that fires erupted in two districts of the capital due to the attack. In the Holosiivskyi district, fires engulfed garages in two separate locations, covering a total area of 1,000 square meters. A non-residential building filled with cardboard also caught fire, but both incidents were localized quickly.
In the Obolon district, a fire broke out on the premises of a company, which was extinguished by morning.
Context
- In recent weeks, Russian forces have repeatedly targeted Kyiv and the Brovary region. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that on the night of August 5, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with four anti-ship missiles “Zircon”/”Onyx”, 24 ballistic missiles “Iskander-M”/S-400, and 115 strike drones, with no missiles intercepted. The primary target area was Kyiv.
- According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the main objectives of the Russian attacks were storage facilities of civilian enterprises, including the sorting center of “Nova Poshta”, the main facilities of “Epicenter”, and the Rozetka distribution warehouse complex. Sixteen people died in Kyiv region, with one additional fatality reported in Kyiv, and dozens sustained injuries.
