Tom Cruise’s Daughter Officially Changes Her Last Name

Suri Cruise, the only child of actor Tom Cruise and his ex-wife Katie Holmes, has officially changed her last name, according to reports from Page Six and TMZ. The 20-year-old made the change in 2024 when she registered to vote under the name Suri Noelle while starting her studies at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, as indicated by Pennsylvania records.
The name “Noelle” is derived from her mother’s second name. Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise were married in November 2006, shortly after the birth of Suri, but the couple divorced six years later.
Before registering as a voter under the name Suri Noelle, she had used it during her high school graduation in June 2024. Coincidentally, that same weekend, Tom Cruise was seen attending Taylor Swift’s “Eras” tour at Wembley Stadium in London.
Two months later, to celebrate her daughter’s accomplishments, Holmes shared rare insights about Suri during an interview with Town & Country, according to People. “I am proud of my daughter. Of course, I will miss the physical closeness, but I am truly proud of her and happy,” Holmes said.
Holmes reminisced about the excitement of self-discovery at that age, expressing joy about Suri’s experiences. “I remember what it was like to be that age, that time of beginnings. It is exciting to discover oneself, and I really enjoyed that time, so I am glad when I think of her in that way,” she added.
In December 2024, Holmes publicly addressed comments regarding Suri’s relationship with her father, who is now 64, denying rumors that Suri had inherited a trust fund from Tom Cruise. At that time, Holmes, now 47, posted on Instagram disputing a Daily Mail article claiming Suri would have access to her trust fund upon turning 18. “Completely false,” Holmes wrote over a screenshot of the article. “Daily Mail, can you stop making things up?” she added.
Although Suri has largely stayed out of the spotlight, she was spotted visiting her mother on the set of the series “Happy Hours” in New York in August 2025. The two were photographed walking through the city before Holmes returned to the set to film alongside her “Dawson’s Creek” co-star Joshua Jackson.
Suri and Tom Cruise have not been in contact since she was seven years old. The actor also has two adopted children from his marriage to Nicole Kidman, which ended in 2001.
