Universitatea Craiova has conducted their official training in preparation for the return leg against Levski Sofia. The Romanian champions will face the Bulgarian team on Wednesday at 20:30 at Ion Oblemenco Stadium, following a 0-1 loss in the first match.
Craiova will be without four players for the return match against Levski, with the most significant loss being Oleksander Romanciuk. The Ukrainian defender is sidelined due to a muscle tear, which will keep him off the pitch for an extended period.
Craiova Struggles with Injuries Ahead of Levski Match
Despite having enough players to field two teams, Mihai Rotaru’s side has lost two key players for the match against Levski. Absent from training were Oleksandr Romanchuk, Assad Al-Hamlawi—who is currently negotiating a transfer—Ronaldo Webster, and Darius Fălcușan.
Both Romanchuk and Al-Hamlawi are regular starters, with the Palestinian being the primary attacking option for the team, while Romanchuk is the main defender. The other two players, however, are not considered first-team choices. Coelho has rarely relied on Fălcușan, who is expected to be loaned out, similar to David Barbu.
On the other hand, Ronaldo Webster sustained an injury during the match against Dinamo and is experiencing ankle issues. The left-back could not even last a full half in the recent league match against Dinamo, which Craiova lost 1-5, where he was partly at fault for the second goal conceded.
Faced with these challenges, Craiova must turn to alternative options to fill the gaps left by the injured players. In attack, Nsimba remains the main option, while Nicola Stefanovici is set to take Romanchuk’s place.
In their last two outings, Craiova has suffered two costly defeats. They lost to Levski Sofia with a score of 1-0, putting them at a disadvantage heading into the return match. Additionally, they were beaten by Dinamo with a staggering score of 5-1 in the league.
