Dinamo București faced a disappointing start to the new Superliga season, suffering a 0-1 defeat against Petrolul Ploiești. The performance of the team, particularly in the opening match, was scrutinized by former international player Marius Niculae.
Niculae noted that Dinamo had several significant chances in the early minutes of the game, commenting on their strong start.
“The first ten minutes were exceptional for Dinamo. Unfortunately, they couldn’t maintain that pace. They had three opportunities and could have been leading 3-0, which would have led to positive discussions about the team. But sadly, they haven’t yet found their rhythm,” Niculae stated.
Niculae Calls for Transfer Reinforcements
The former striker emphasized the importance of bringing in new players to adapt to the season, particularly due to changes in the coaching staff and the different philosophy introduced by the new coach. “There’s a new coach with a different style and philosophy,” Niculae explained.
He also expressed that it is crucial for the team to acquire new talent, stating, “They have lost key players, especially in the central positions, including Boateng and Gnahore. They need reinforcements, experienced players who can add value to the squad.”
Niculae sees the current transfer window as an opportunity for the club, asserting, “The transfer window is still open, and I believe they can bring in players who will enhance Dinamo. The team is on a positive trajectory after coming out of insolvency and almost qualifying for European competitions. It would be a shame for Dinamo not to continue this upward trend.”
“Gnahore Should Have Been Retained”
He also commented on the departure of Eddy Gnahore to FCSB, a significant player from the previous season.
“We don’t know the details of the negotiations between Dinamo and Gnahore or what transpired. From my perspective, there were certain players that Dinamo needed to keep at all costs,” he remarked.
Niculae suggested that financial factors may have played a crucial role in Gnahore’s departure. “It’s likely that Gnahore received a much better offer from the other side, which Dinamo couldn’t match. In my opinion, Gnahore should have been retained,” he concluded.
