Sandra Oudkirk Appointed as New U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine

Sandra Oudkirk has been appointed as the new U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, becoming the third individual to hold this position since the onset of the full-scale war. Oudkirk, a career diplomat, has spent more than three decades representing U.S. interests across various nations, with a range of increasing responsibilities.
Most recently, Oudkirk served at the U.S. Department of Defense, where she held roles including Deputy Director of the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies and Civilian Deputy and Advisor for Foreign Affairs at the U.S. Army European Command. Her previous assignments include leading the American Institute in Taiwan and serving in diplomatic capacities in Taipei, Dublin, Ankara, Kingston, Istanbul, and Beijing.
Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, Oudkirk is a Georgetown University School of Foreign Service graduate. She is married to diplomat Scott Oudkirk and has three adult children. She is proficient in Mandarin Chinese and Turkish.
