“Show, huh? Another one”
General Ivan Popov was taken to the 2nd Western District Military Court to consider a complaint against his arrest. The day before, the Investigative Committee asked to change his preventive measure. But the meeting on this issue was postponed to May 27.
The former commander of the 58th Combined Arms Army was arrested on May 17. According to the initial version of the investigation, he and his two accomplices illegally sold two thousand tons of metal structures that were intended for the construction of a defense line in the Northern Military District zone. The amount of damage is 130 million rubles.
Immediately after his arrest, his colleagues stood up for the general. They don't believe that Popov could have stolen anything.
