The wait is almost over. According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan are close to appointing their coach for next season. And this will almost certainly be Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese “accepted all the conditions set by Milan during the negotiations and is now waiting to receive the green light from the club” – announces transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
Amorim was sacked by Manchester United in January after a disastrous tenure. From 1 November 2024 to 5 January 2026, in 63 matches in charge of the team, he recorded 25 wins, 15 draws and 23 defeats, with a negative goal difference that perfectly reflects the team's difficulties: 112 goals scored and 114 conceded.
Milan want Ruben Amorim for the aggressiveness with which his teams play
Following his difficult experience at United, Amorim had initially considered a sabbatical, but had never completely ruled out an immediate return to managing a top-flight team if presented with a compelling project.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan consider Amorim a suitable choice to become the head coach as his teams are aggressive and look to win the ball back immediately. The Portuguese was also among the candidates before the Milan group appointed Paolo Fonseca in June 2024.
Ralf Rangnick extended his contract with Austria until 2028

Amorim's rivals currently also include former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner and Al Ahli's Matthias Jaissle, but the Italian press claim there is little chance of either of them being seriously considered.
