“City of the Dead” with more than 300 tombs containing mummified families found in Egypt — The Daily Mail
A team of archaeologists worked in Aswan for five years and recently discovered 36 tombs that had been reused for 900 years. Each of them contained from 30 to 40 mummified bodies.
Studies of mummies have shown that 30 to 40% died in youth or early childhood due to infectious diseases, tuberculosis, intestinal diseases and osteoporosis.
The excavations also revealed that people were buried according to their class status, with the elite buried at the top of the hill and the middle class below.
