Genoa, the Serie A club patronized by Dan Țucu, has officially announced the opening of a new football academy in Oman. The launch event was also attended by the executive director of the Italian group, Andres Blazquez.

  • Oman is located near one of the most tense areas on Earth. The Sultanate is separated from Iran by the Strait of Hormuz, which is about 40 kilometers wide. Iran and the United States are in a military conflict that erupted at the end of February 2026.

  • Muscat, the capital of Oman, is located approximately 300 kilometers from this area.

By inaugurating the new academy in Muscat, Genoa has officially expanded its presence in Oman, a project through which the Italian club aims to strengthen its position in the region and identify new talents for the future.

The launch event was attended by representatives of the Italian and Omani authorities, officials of the local football federation and members of the club's management. The Italian delegation was led by CEO Andres Blazquez.

“Through this project, Genoa aims to increase its visibility at the international level, but also to identify new talents for the future. An example is Suhayb Al-Kharusi, an Omani striker born in 2006, who has already arrived at the club's academy and recently signed his first professional contract”, notes the publication calciogenoa.it.

The club's representatives explained that the project is part of a wider international development strategy.

“This partnership supports the process of identifying and developing young talents in Oman, through a constant scouting activity, which over the years also led to the legitimization of Suhayb Al-Kharusi.

The initiative also has the role of strengthening relations between Italy and Oman, opening new opportunities for collaboration and development. It is a project that can strengthen economic and sports ties between the two countries.

As we previously announced, in the coming months we will announce the opening of new Genoa academies in other states,” club officials said.

Last season, Genoa finished the championship in 16th place in Serie A, with 41 points. However, the team had no emotions in the fight to avoid relegation. And in the next season, the team will be trained by Daniele De Rossi.
