In a Krasnoyarsk hospital, children began to receive free insulin pumps

Krasnoyarsk Interdistrict Clinical Hospital No. 20 named after Berzon received a license for high-tech pediatric care. Now children with type 1 diabetes can receive an insulin pump under compulsory medical insurance, the regional Ministry of Health said.
Before this, parents had to take their child to regional institutions or pay for the installation themselves.
As Gornovosti writes, doctors said that the pump supplies insulin continuously, imitating the work of a healthy pancreas. Unlike regular injections, it reduces the risk of sugar surges and gives the child more freedom.
“Installing a pump is not just a medical procedure, it is teaching a new philosophy of living with diabetes. Thanks to the VMP license, we can not only install the device, but also carry out a full cycle of setting up and training the family in a 24-hour hospital, which greatly increases the effectiveness of therapy and the safety of the child,” said Yulia Kuznetsova, deputy chief physician for childhood at KMCH No. 20 named after I.S. Berzona.
