What seemed like a certainty became official on Thursday evening, when the announcement from the Hermannstadt regarding his situation Dorinel Munteanu (57 years old). He ended the collaboration with the formation on the bank of the Cibin, after he failed to save and the team reached League 2.
Even if he left a small goal at the end of the season, it became increasingly clear that Dorinel Munteanu will no longer stay in Sibiu, at the end of a disastrous season, which culminated in relegation to the second echelon of Romanian football.
On Thursday evening, Sibiu officials confirmed that the parties had reached an agreement to end the collaboration, after the objective was not met. Along with Dorinel Munteanu, two of his staff, second coaches Dorin Toma and Laurentiu Iorga, will also leave Hermannstadt.

Following the failure of the objective stipulated in the contract – staying in the Romanian Superliga – AFC Hermannstadt and head coach Dorinel Munteanu terminated their contractual relations today. We thank Mister for all the contribution he brought to the team in the fight to avoid relegation and we wish him the best of luck in his next career challenges!

After the relegation to League 2, Dorinel Munteanu hinted that he would be willing to continue at Sibiu under certain conditions, waiting for the discussions with the club's bosses.
“They manage both the coaches and the players who will stay, but if they don't improve things, know that it will be very difficult. I don't know what their decision is, but we will see in the next few days. That's how we, the Romanians, throw a relegation on the coach, but know that a coach, no matter how good he is, if he doesn't have conditions, he has nothing to do,” the coach said after the tie lost with FC Voluntari.
Dorinel Munteanu entered into negotiations with CSM Reșita
Free of contract now, after leaving Sibiu, Dorinel Munteanu has chances to stay in League 2, where he would take on the second division CSM Reșita, according to local journalists from oradesibiu.ro.
