English football is in mourning after the passing of Bobby Tambling, one of Chelsea's great legends. The former striker passed away on Wednesday at the age of 84.
The announcement was made by AFC Crosshaven, the club in Ireland that Tambling has coached in the past.

Bobby Tambling remains one of the most important names in Chelsea history. The striker played for the London outfit between 1959 and 1970, during which he played 370 matches and scored 202 goals.
For over 40 years, Tambling was the top scorer in the club's history. His record was surpassed only in 2013 by Frank Lampard, who reached 211 goals, but after 648 games played in the shirt of the Londoners.

The former striker still holds the record for most goals scored by a Chelsea player in a single match. In 1966, Tambling scored five times in one game against Aston Villa.
“Bobby leaves a huge void in our lives. We are all better, kinder and richer for having known him. His warmth, wisdom, humor and love will remain with us forever.
Our deepest and most sincere condolences to his loving family, close friends and the Chelsea family who adored him. We have all lost a true legend and a very special man,” AFC Crosshaven representatives said.
He represented England and finished his career in Ireland
In addition to his time at Chelsea, Bobby Tambling also played for Crystal Palace and was capped three times by the England national team.
He ended his playing career in Ireland, where he settled in the city of Cork. After retiring he remained involved in football and coached several local teams including Cork Celtic, Cork City and Crosshaven.
In the last years of his life, the former great striker faced health problems, being diagnosed with dementia.
