Siyabonga Ngezana (28), FCSB's central defender, announced on social media that he has made the decision to undergo surgery during this competitive break.

Knee problems have held the South African defender back this season. He refused to have meniscus surgery, which is why he got into the boss's disgrace and implicitly lost several matches this season.

The absence from the club team set off a chain reaction, with the South African also missing out on his country's 2026 World Cup squad.

Siyabonga Ngezana made the decision! It is operated during the competitive break: “It's the perfect time”

“A reason, a season, a blessing or a lesson, but never a defeat…the 2025-2026 season has come to an end.

It was a complicated season with too many things holding me back. I struggled with a lot of knee pain for over 7 months and avoided meniscus surgery to avoid missing the World Championship. Unfortunately, things didn't go according to plan…

Now is the perfect time to operate, recover, reflect and get back into the fight. Let's bring back what belongs to us. Thanks for the support from my team, FCSB, and I wish South Africa the best of luck at the World Cup. Make us proud and bring the trophy home,” was the defender's message on social media.

This season Siyabonga Ngezana played 2852 minutes in 34 games, scored one goal and provided an assist. He has been with the club since 2023, and recently put pen to paper on a contract extension. It is quoted by specialized websites at 2.6 million euros. He has 11 caps for his country's national team. He only played for FCSB and Kaizer Chiefs in his career.
