After record temperatures for this period were recorded in the month of over 30 degrees Celsius, the first day of summer, June 1, comes with a significant change in the weather in most of the country. The atmosphere becomes unstable again, and meteorologists warn that the afternoon and evening will be dominated by torrential rains, electrical discharges and wind intensifications, phenomena that, in some places, may take on the appearance of a gale and may be accompanied by hail.
The National Meteorological Administration has issued a yellow code of atmospheric instability valid from June 1 until Tuesday, June 2, at 10 a.m. According to the forecast, the most affected will be the regions of Banat, Crisana, Maramureș, Transylvania, Oltenia, northern Muntenia, northern Dobrogea and southwestern Moldova, where instability phenomena will be more frequent and more intense.

During the day, clouds will gradually gather and rain will appear over large areas. In many areas, they will be torrential and will be accompanied by thunder and lightning, while the wind will blow stronger during showers.
Amounts of water can become significant in a short interval, being estimated at 15-25 liters per square meter, but locally even 40-50 liters per square meter can accumulate.
Even if the weather will be capricious, the thermal values will not deviate too much from those specific to the beginning of June. Maximum temperatures will generally be between 19 and 29 degrees Celsius, while overnight lows will drop to 10-16 degrees. Towards morning, in some areas, especially where the rains will stop and the wind will weaken, fog may form.
Weather in Bucharest
Even the Capital will not be spared by the change of weather. If the first part of the day will bring periods of relatively pleasant weather, in the afternoon and evening the clouds will become more numerous, and the probability of rain will increase considerably.
They will be accompanied by electrical discharges and temporary wind intensifications, and meteorologists warn that, in short periods of time, significant amounts of water can accumulate. There are also conditions for hail.
The maximum temperature will reach around 26 degrees, while the night minimum will be between 15 and 16 degrees Celsius.
At the mountain
In the mountains, atmospheric instability will be more pronounced. There will be periods of torrential rain, electrical discharges and gusts of wind, and in some places the storms may be accompanied by hail.
Water amounts will frequently reach 15-25 liters per square meter, but in some areas values of 40-50 liters per square meter may be recorded, especially where the rains persist.
At sea
Those who decided to spend June 1st at the seaside will have pleasant temperatures, but the weather will be unstable here as well. Maximum values will be between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius, and the sky will alternate sunny periods with intervals where the clouds will gather and leave short-lived rain.
Showers are expected especially in the second part of the day and may be accompanied by electrical discharges.
The sea water temperature will stay around 19 degrees Celsius, enough to attract those eager for a first dip in the sea this summer.
