Trump slams wave of cancellations from anniversary concerts in message praising himself: 'Number 1 attraction in the world'

US President Donald Trump has commented on the wave of withdrawals from anniversary concerts planned for the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence, suggesting he is considering canceling the events, according to Reuters.

The concerts were planned as part of the anniversary events that will be organized by the Freedom 250 group in Washington from June 25 to July 10. AFP wrote on Friday that of the nine names on the initially announced list, only four are still valid: Vanilla Ice, C+C Music Factory, Flo Rida and the surviving member of the band Milli Vanilli.

Rocker Bret Michael and country music star Martina McBride announced Friday that they will not be attending the events, after the Commodores and two other bands made similar decisions.

Trump describes himself as the 'number 1 attraction anywhere in the world'

In a post on Truth Social on Saturday, referring to himself, Donald Trump said he was considering bringing on stage instead “the No. 1 attraction anywhere in the world, the man who draws far bigger audiences than Elvis in his prime, and he does it without a guitar, the man who loves our country more than anyone else, and the man who some say is the greatest president in history.”

The American president specified that he sent his representatives “to analyze the feasibility of organizing an AMERICA IS BACK demonstration (“America is back”, one of its slogans, no)”.

Freedom 250 is a public-private partnership created by the White House to coordinate the United States' 250th anniversary festivities with federal agencies.

It remains unclear whether other artists will be sought, or whether Trump's proposal to replace the performances with a rally is actually being considered by organizers.
