In Krasnoyarsk, the Green Coast park in the Zelenaya Roshcha microdistrict will be partially closed to the public. The decision was made by the Department of Housing and Public Utilities and Public Improvement after examining the area where sinkholes had previously been discovered.
Already this week, a fence will be installed on the territory, which will limit access to a number of areas. The children's and sports areas, the playground with swings, the dog walking area and other areas will be closed to the public. Walking and cycling paths along Ulyanovsky Avenue, as well as infrastructure on the side of residential buildings, will remain accessible to residents.
Problems in the public space were identified back in the spring of last year, when several sinkholes appeared there. Then part of the territory was temporarily fenced off with fan barriers, and specialists began monitoring the condition of the slope and soil in different seasons and under different weather conditions.
“As a result, a study of the condition of the soil and the slope showed that natural processes are taking place in the soil, which at any moment can lead to the formation of new soil failures. This is what makes the territory unsafe for visits until it is strengthened,” the experts explained.
Now, based on the recommendations issued, they will begin to develop design and estimate documentation. After this, the authorities will determine the required amount of funding and the source of funds for the work.
The Department of Housing and Public Utilities and Public Improvement notes that the process will take a long time, and in the best case, it will be possible to begin strengthening the territory only in the summer of next year. Until then, part of the Green Bank will remain closed.
