Central defender Sheriff Sinyan will leave CFR Cluj at the end of June, when his contract with the railways expires. The 29-year-old Gambian, with Norwegian citizenship, could end up at rival U Cluj, after refusing to extend the current agreement.
His performances were appreciated in the recently concluded season, including by Daniel Pancu, so that the name of Rapid has been circulating lately as a possible next destination, where his former technician will also train.
The stopper moved to Gruia in January 2025 for a zero fee shortly after ending his spell with Odds BK in Norway's second division.
Sheriff Sinyan, on U Cluj's list
In recent weeks, the management of CFR Cluj offered Sheriff Sinyan a contract extension, with a higher net salary and performance bonuses, but the officials were met with a refusal from the African, as exclusively announced by GSP.
Rival U Cluj has Sinyan in its sights for a permanent movebeing one of the favorites of Răzvan Zamfir, the official who brought him to Romania when he was working in the railway scouting department. Even Cristiano Bergodi would not oppose the transfer, especially since the Italian coach is planning a reorganization of the “Red Caps” defense for the next season.
An impediment could still be the salary that the hitchhiker could ask for, since the University has established a remuneration ceiling from which it does not deviate.
