“Today's match was not easy at all. Facing a compatriot is never too easy. The match was difficult, but I am very happy that I won”, stated Mboko.
“I think I've improved my evolution on clay, I feel better, more familiar. On clay you have to move more, it's more difficult. You have to slide controlled. It depends from match to match. Today things went well for me,” added the 19-year-old player.
Mboko praised Fernandez, who he said was a strong player and had some incredible shots. Regarding the semi-final against Jaqueline, the world number 9 responded as follows:
“It won't be easy. If he is in the semi-final, it means he is playing very good tennis.”
Jaqueline Cristian and Victoria Mboko have never met before in the WTA circuit. In the other semi-final, Ann Li (25 years old, 30 WTA) will duel with Emma Navarro (25 years old, 39 WTA).
