Germany wants to raise the retirement age. The media reveal the government's plans

The CDU faction in the Bundestag supported the recommendations of the pension commission, which were previously reported by the Bild daily. — I believe it is right for our generation to work until the age of 70 in the 2050s. The idea is to ensure that our generation will still be able to look forward to retirement, said Sepp Mueller, vice-chairman of the faction, in an interview with ntv.
Mueller also added that “We would do well to translate these results into legal provisions“.

Skepticism in the SPD towards retirement at the age of 70
Economist Marcel Fratzscher thinks the same. — A pension at the age of 70 will be introduced – he stated with conviction in an interview with the “Welt” newspaper.
The Ministry of Labor, however, commented quite laconically and does not intend to comment on such reports. In an interview with Reuters, a person from inside the ministry emphasized that there is no consensus within the government so far on key issues.
There is frustration in the German Trade Union Federation (DGB), which is close to the SPD. — I find it interesting that what is meant by reform is: it must cause as much pain as possible — commented DGB chairwoman Yasmin Fahimi in the “ARD-Morgenmagazin” program. According to Fahimi, what is decisive is rather increasing the number of economically active people, for example employing more women full-time.
Sharp criticism also comes from the BSW party (Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance). “These plans are a social explosive for our country” – said party leader Fabio De Masi in an interview with “Bild”. “In this way, the commission is exhausting the pension system. Why should people continue to pay contributions at all when they have to work until the age of 70 and receive less and less?” he added.

Retirement at the age of 70: critical voices also in the ranks of the CDU
This idea was not met with enthusiasm in the CDU either. — A universal increase in the retirement age to 70 would be a 'wrong move' — said Dennis Radtke in an interview with the AFP news agency.
At the same time, the CDU politician left a loophole for himself. — If a raise is being considered [wieku emerytalnego]this would only be possible if, firstly, it was linked to changes in life expectancy and, secondly, appropriate improvements were made to disability pensions – said Radtke.
