Why a political scientist thinks that Nicușor Dan “will generate this crisis many times” and “took a rather pro-PSD option”

Stelian Tănase, political scientist and writer, said on Saturday that, in his opinion, Nicușor Dan is “a very weak president” because “he does not have a party to support his initiatives”.
Because he doesn't have a party behind him, Nicușor Dan “doesn't have the tools to implement his policy”, said Stelian Tănase, on Saturday, on B1 TV, who believes that the current president has, under these conditions, a problem in “consolidating a certain authority” and “will generate this crisis many times”.
“No Dan has a structural problem. That makes him unable to cope (…). He entered the campaign with an anti-system position, not on the basis of a party within the party system, but now this movement, which then proved victorious, shows its limits. He has no strength in Parliament, he has no party to support his initiatives. Because of this, he is a weak president, very weak. He has no tools to implement his policy”, he said the political scientist.
Commenting on the “public gestures that Nicușor Dan made” and the equidistant attitude he took in the political crisis in Bucharest, Stelian Tănase said that the president “took a rather pro-PSD option”.
“Because he considered, I suspect, that it is the largest party, as a representation in Parliament, and he can rely on it. This, I repeat, in the absence of his own political strength,” he added.
“He should have approached the PNL”
Stelian Tănase believes that Nicușor Dan “should have either approached the PNL, which better reflected his ideas and the area he came from, of civil society”.
“Or he could approach his former party, now led by Dominic Fritz (…), but let's not forget that this party, which he founded, kicked him out. Because he is a difficult man, it can be seen in his statements, it is quite difficult to work with him, because he always says something else”, continued the political scientist.
He believes that, under these conditions, Nicușor Dan “has an essential deficiency” in the presidential activity, “that he does not have his own political force, through which to work especially in the Parliament, and he has a difficulty in making himself heard.”
“He has some problems to consolidate a certain authority and especially to have an instrument with which to help himself in the Parliament – and he doesn't have it, and he won't have it. As long as this legislature lasts, the situation remains as it is now. He will generate this crisis many times”, Stelian Tănase also declared.
At the beginning of next week, President Nicușor Dan called for consultations with the parliamentary parties for the formation of the new Government. The discussions will start with the PSD, from 9 o'clock. Today, the head of state stated that he will not make an announcement on Monday or Tuesday about the future candidate for the position of prime minister.
