The German parliament chose on Tuesday in the second approach of Chadek Friedrich Merz as Chancellor. 325 deputies supported the candidate of the three -party coalition of CDU, CSU and SPD in a secret ballot – said the chairwoman of the Bundestag Julia Kloeckner. The absolute majority required is 316 votes.

289 parliamentarians voted against.
Earlier on Tuesday, a three -party coalition candidate – CDU, CSU and SPD lacked six votes to obtain the required majority in the first vote. The required majority is 316 votes. The coalition has 328 seats, which means that some coalition deputies voted against their own candidate.
For the first time since World War II, the newly elected Chancellor did not obtain the support of parliament in the first round of voting.
The CDU/CSU coalition won the February federal election and concluded a coalition agreement with the Centrolevilic Social Democrats. The agreement contains plans to revive GDP growth, such as reducing corporate taxes and reducing energy prices. He also promises strong support for Ukraine and higher military expenses.
