Trump announces a three-day truce between Ukraine and Russia starting Saturday

American President Donald Trump announced on Friday evening a three-day truce between Ukraine and Russia, starting on Saturday, May 9, until Monday, May 11, AFP informs.

This announcement by Donald Trump comes after Moscow had already decreed a unilateral ceasefire ahead of Russia's May 9 festivities.

“Let's hope this will be the beginning of the end of a very long, bloody and difficult war,” the US president wrote on his Truth Social platform, stating that the truce would notably include “a prisoner exchange of 1,000 prisoners from each country.”
