In Krasnoyarsk, on Surikov Street, all the trees were examined before its improvement. The audit showed that many of them are in satisfactory condition, but some will be demolished in the near future.
According to landscape specialists, trees and shrubs of several species are now growing in the pedestrian zone, small green corners and along the roadway. These are mainly apple trees, elms and maples, planted in the 60-70s of the last century.
“One apple tree has a very large slope, and there is a frost crack along the entire trunk from the very ground. And the tree is located near a parking pocket and can fall on cars at any moment. As part of the landscaping work, it will, of course, have to be removed,” says Natalya Rychkova, head of the department of technical supervision of landscaping objects at UDIB. “We examined absolutely every tree. A lot of mature, flowering trees that provide shade are in good condition. We will look after and protect them. But dangerous trees with cracks, hollows, without bark, and with a large slope will have to be replaced with new ones. Unfortunately, they grow old, get sick, and their life cycle ends.”
Work on the demolition of diseased trees on Surikov should begin in the near future. The mayor's office assured that most of the mature plantings will be preserved. In addition, the green fund of the street will be supplemented and enriched during the improvement.
“The project provides for the planting of 93 young large trees – these will be apple trees and rowan trees. More than 500 shrubs will also be planted – Hungarian lilac, bladderwort, spirea, cotoneaster. It is also planned to decorate the street with more than a thousand herbaceous perennial plants. The street should take on a completely different, more well-groomed, modern look, including in terms of landscaping,” noted Natalya Rychkova.
Let us add that a survey of green spaces was carried out on all transverse streets of Krasnoyarsk, which this year will lead to a unified modern style of improvement in preparation for the 400th anniversary of the city. So, on Kirov, emergency trees have already been removed. The mayor's office says that the timeliness of such work has been confirmed – huge cavities were found in many trunks after demolition.
